The Control Room Speakers are the two Tannoy REVEAL 5A - 5" Biamplified Nearfield Audio Monitors located inside the Editing Sound Booth. They are connected directly to the CONTROL ROOM output on the Mixer, allowing them to output any audio signal that is currently being sent to the mixer.

[edit] Using the Control Room Speakers

1. NEVER TOUCH THE DOMES COVERING THE SPEAKER DRIVERS! (THESE ARE MADE OF VERY DELICATE PAPER + FOAM).

2. The speakers should be left powered on (LED = green) at all times. If the speakers are off (LED = RED), power on the speakers by pushing in the silver TANNOY button located just above LED.

3. On the speakers, the circular knob located to the left of the LED should be at 50% (so that the groove on the knob is vertical). Please do not adjust this knob under any circumstances. Instead, adjust the volume of the control room speakers by using the controls located on the mixer.

4. On the mixer, under CONTROL ROOM/PHONES SOURCE near the top right corner, assign a source to the control room speakers by depressing the appropriate button. Usually this will be the MAIN MIX button depressed, with no other buttons depressed. If you are recording through the SUB channels, the buttons corresponding to these will need to be depressed in order to hear your recording.

5. The master control for the control room speakers is the round CONTROL ROOM knob located under CONTROL ROOM/PHONES SOURCE near the top right corner on the mixer. PLEASE DO NOT max out this control knob.

6. If the MAIN MIX is assigned to the speakers, you will also need to appropriately adjust the MAIN MIX slider, located at the very bottom right corner on the mixer.

7. Lastly, be sure that the mixer channels you are using (1-16) are assigned properly (usually with their individual MAIN MIX buttons depressed) and that the sliders are adjusted accordingly.
